After the massive success of the TUBE DUNNYS and ongoing requests for another edition I was thinking how I can improve this concept and not bore my fans with the same concept again and again.

Since I so much like the concept of dripping ink or paint it was just logical to come up with something else featuring this kind of theme.

COMIC STRIPPED “CALVIN & HOBBES”

After a longer break it was time to finish the 16″ Qee with the CALVIN & HOBBES theme.
After posting sneek images on FB people got crazy and started to bid for this piece.

I’m taking bids until sunday and see if this piece will get a new home.

For decades now I’m reading Bill Watterson’s CALVIN & HOBBES and ofcourse I had to come up with a Comic Stripped version for my favorite comicstrip.
I decided to cover a 16″ Qee with black and white copies on white and orange paper – so no original comicbook was harmed!

I added loose brushstrokes to adapt the style of Watterson – I know I will never pay justice to the great Watterson but I tried to capture this style anyway.

I started a turtle with a loose plan in mind during last week. I invested many hours of tweaking and learned a lot through working with this piece.

I ended up with over 30 million polys and it was hard to put up a scene within ZBrush – but I made it and here’s the final result:

What a nice surprise when I received the email from PIXOLOGIC – the makers of ZBrush – that they want to add me as a featured artist in their turntable gallery. I always check the amazing work of incredible artists there and wasn’t expecting at all to be featured there as well any time soon.

We have just added a few turntables from a member new to the gallery. This illusive artist only goes by VISEone, and has been building a portfolio of some interesting characters and creatures for the past year. The creature titled “Swoopy” is what caught our attention; the texturing and rendering are great, and FiberMesh was used for the grass.

AMOR DRAGON
He’s an AMOR DRAGON – responsible for spreading the love in the fairytale land. It’s a 24/7 duty and he hates his job – flying around and shooting arrows with his cupid beeing bored…and that his skin is pink doesn’t light up his mood either.

SWOOPY!

Beware of the SWOOPY – hunting anything he can eat.
His camouflage trick is to look like a guy wearing a costume – and when you ask where he got that incredible costume from – then it’s already too late and you’ll end up as “Swoopyfood”.
